Dalton High School is hiring a new Head Football Coach.  The candidate will also serve as a classroom teacher (content area to be determined) and a football liaison for the Dalton community.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Monitor student academic and course progression for post-secondary success
  2. Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success
  3. Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of classroom instruction, demonstrations, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, questions and investigate
  4. Advise, coordinate, assist in hiring, and support a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal
  5. Instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes
  6. Strategically work to develop and assist players participating in the Little Cats program, middle school program, and recreational programs that feed to Dalton Public Schools
  7. Thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies/athletic code of conduct approved by the Dalton Public Schools Board of Education as well as the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Constitution
  8. Delegate specific duties, supervises implementation and, at season’s end, analyzes staff effectiveness and evaluates all assistants
  9. Enforce student discipline and works to maintain high morale and cooperation in our football program
  10. Work in unison with the community and Quarterback Club to create the best experiences for our student athletes
  11. Attend staff meetings and serves on staff committees as assigned
  12. Attend and assigns assistant coaches to attend feeder program games
  13. Bulid a comprehensive football program that includes a full summer program including camps, 7 on 7 opportunities, and provides multiple opportunities for players to participate in the summer program while supporting multi-sport athletes
  14. Perform other duties which may be assigned by the athletic director/principal

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must hold or be able to obtain a Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate
  2. Head Varsity coaching/coordinator experience preferred
  3. Has the ability to organize and supervise a complete football program
  4. Must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes/coaches both on and off the field
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
