Part-Time Adapted Music Teacher - Dalton Public Schools

Job Purpose: 

In Dalton Public Schools, the Adapted Music Teacher will provide adapted music instruction for students in our highly specialized special education classrooms. This will be an itinerant position. This position will not carry a case management responsibility for IEPs, but the professional should seek to collaborate with case managers to help identify and support student needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Plan and implement specially designed music instruction and experiences to support cognitive, communication, and social development of students, in particular.
2. Travel to assigned schools to deliver adapted music services to selected classrooms.
3. Integrate appropriate technology into the instructional design
4. Promote a positive classroom environment through well-delivered therapeutic interventions
5. Work closely with special education teachers and paraprofessionals to deliver instruction that complements curricular goals and student needs
6. Communicate responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership
7. Deliver services according to a weekly schedule and collaborate with district special education staff to address changes in schedules
 

Qualifications:

To be qualified for this position the employee must possess a degree and/or active Georgia licensure or certification as a Music Therapist, Music Educator, or Musician.

Work Calendar:

This position works 190 days.
