Reports to: Director of Maintenance/Mechanical/Electrical Supervisor

Job Summary:  Responsible for repairing pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.  May occasionally perform installation duties. Also maintains and repairs stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries, using hand tools and portable power tools.

Must be 21 years of age or older.

Job Duties:

• Repair and maintain plumbing, replacing defective washers, replacing or mending broken pipes and opening clogged drains.
• Install, maintain, and repair stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries, using hand tools and power tools.
• Inspect assembled vessels for faulty accessories and pressure test for leakage.
• Assist with other work in coordination with repair and maintenance teams.
• Report the need for service or repair to supervisor on equipment that is under warranty.
• Monitor inventory of standard parts and obtain replacements according to established policies and procedures.
• Obtain and maintain required certification(s).
• Provide driver's license and sign District Vehicle Usage Agreement.  (District insurance requires all drivers to be 25 years of age or older.)
• Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures, and the maintenance of a clean work area.
• Handle all chemicals and hazardous materials according to HazCom standards.
• Perform all duties following established safety practices, using protective equipment such as goggles and gloves.
• Perform other duties/tasks as requested or assigned by supervisor(s) including serving as back-up for individuals in other craft areas.

Position works a 250-day calendar.
